Tip of the day! x2

This is going to be for Saturdays and todays tip of the day. I was sick yesterday so I did not get to post! Yuck.

Heres a weird one, I did not think this would work at all until I tried it, not sure if this is actually good for your nails but then again either is most products we put on our nails.Try using Elmer's glue as a base coat. Nails come out shiny like a gel polish and  it works better than most base coats.

Now the next tip is keeping with the theme of nails. Put your nail polish in the fridge for 15 minutes before applying, it makes for a smoother application.

How to buy Makeup at the Dollar Store!

If you don't have a ton of money to spend on makeup sometimes the dollar store can be a great place to find inexpensive options! I have always been one to buy cosmetics from the dollar store and have found a lot of great finds there. Lately my dollar store has been having O.P.I nail polish for $3 which I love, I have bought soo many! Also I know ELF is cheap anyway but we don't have stores that sell ELF in my town so I love scooping their products up. I have bought new makeup brushes for $1 and also my favorite all time eye liner is from ELF which is there for $1.50. I have found products by other brands such as Revlon, Wet n Wild, Loreal, Maybelline etc.. All great brands for a low price you just have to follow a few guidelines when purchasing these products:

Tip #1 - Lip Gloss usually is one of the things you don't have to worry as much about. As long as the safety seal is still on it's almost always dependable. So for me dollar store lip gloss is a go. +

Tip #2- Mascara. I almost always AVOID buying Dollarstore mascaras because normally you can't see an expiration date and it is probably pretty old by the time it hits your local dollar store.

Tip #3- When buying anything like lip liners/eyeliners that are in a tube be careful because things in a tube like that lose moisture very quickly. Wooden pencils are fine.

Tip #4- Powder Products like eyeshadow, blush, bronzer etc.. Make sure first that they are not cracked or broken, I cant tell you how many times I came home with something from the dollar store and then realized in the package it was completly shattered. For the most part powders and eye shadows do stay good for a long time so that's defintly something I would go for.

Tip #5- Lotions/Moisturizers- First of all check expiration date. If it's expired don't buy it. Another tip I have heard to watch out for in inexpensive lotions is Lanolin- it can irate the skin and cause dryness.

Fridays Tip of the day

Tip: If a liquid foundation has SPF in it, it's NOT good for taking flash photography. Use the ones without SPF instead if you don't want to look too flashed out on your face.

Thursdays Tip of the Day

Heres any incredibly simple tip.

Store your eyeliner upside down, it prevents it from drying out.

Wednesdays Tip of the Day!

Todays tip I think is a neat one that heard from a YouTube girl that I often watch. The tip is spray a little bit of hairspray on your spooley instead of using brow gel or wax to get perfectly broomed brows. I tried this tip and it really does work better.

Tip of the Day

Remove Nail Polish Without Remover
If you run out of nail polish remover, you can remove cracked or chipped nail polish by applying a clear top coat to the nail and removing it promptly with a cotton ball.

DIY Crayon Lipsticks!!!

I am sooooooo EXCITED about this. I was surfing the web at work today for some cool new DIYS I could do on my day off tomorrow and I came across this. I thought this was so cool I had to share it with you guys!!  It is how to make your own lip crayons!! Love Love  Love especially since I have a new found obsession with lip crayons! Just so you guys know this is not my own DIY I will post link below of the website.

You will need:

• 1 whole crayon or a combo of one or more colors, equal to one crayon. You can do 1/2+1/2, or 1/3 of three different crayons, 1/3+2/3 and so on.
• 1/2 tsp shea butter, available at Whole Foods
• 1/2 tsp any type of oil (olive, almond, jojoba, coconut). We used argan.
• Heat source. We used a candle.
• Large metal ladle
• Small metal spoon
• Container with a lid, such as a small empty lip balm jar, small Altoids tin, empty contact lens case, etc.*
Optional• A few drops of essential oil for scent; we used grapefruit
• Glitter, for sparkle! We used Lit Glitter in Liberace S2 in one of our combos

1: Choose your colors! You can pick one shade you like or mix it up to a desired shade. (For this how-to, we picked Gold + Red Violet and added some Lit Cosmetics Glitter in Liberace S2.)
2: Remove the paper wrapping from the crayons.
3: Put your oil and shea butter, plus a drop or two of essential oil if using, in the ladle first.
4: Add your crayon(s). If using just one single color, break it into pieces so that it melts more easily. If you’re mixing colors, you want roughly one crayon worth total (half + half, 1 /3 + 2 /3 and so on).
5: Hover the ladle over a lit candle (about 3 inches away from the flame) and carefully add in your ingredients.
4: Crayons will begin to melt in about 30 seconds. As it melts, slowly stir until all ingredients using a metal spoon. Make sure all ingredients are mixed together.
5: Remove ladle from heat.
6: If adding glitter, stir it in right after you remove ladle from the heat.

7: Using your spoon, pour the mixture into your container. Do this this extremely carefully, as the mixture will be very hot!
8: Let it cool in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
You can control the intensity of the finished product from more sheer to full-coverage. Apply it with your fingers for a tinted lip balm look, or use a brush and layer, layer, layer, for an opaque color.
*You can also do this over a stove top, using a double-boiler, instead of a ladle and candle flame.
**If you prefer yours in stick form, you can also buy any cheap lip balm in a tube. First, empty it. To do that, twist so that the entire stick of balm is dispensed, and pull off the product. Then twist the tube all the way back to the down position. When you get to step 7, use a metal funnel (will be hard to aim without this) and pour your mixture into the tube. Cool in the fridge, and you’re done!

Tip Of The Day

I think I am going to start a new daily post called Tip Of The Day with tips I found online that I find useful or tips of my own!. Everyday I will post a short simple beauty tip, these are the types of things I love reading. So here we go todays tip is one we all might already know but great for beginners:

To help you find the right shade of foundation, choose the product you think is closest to your color and try it on your jawline in natural light. You will be able to easily compare it to your neck’s color to see if you need to go for a different undertone, lighter or darker.

Review on Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

I had originally planned on trying this product out for a couple weeks before reviewing it but honestly I do not need that long to give you my review on this product. I'll start off by saying I did not like it, it is not the worst concealer I've ever used but I definitely have better drug store concealers than this one. My first impression was that I liked the packaging and I even liked the sponge applicator on it (even though I know that is the one thing a lot of other people didn't like.) When I first swatched some on my hand it seemed like a more dry concealer, when I patted it in I could see it settling a little bit in the lines of my hands and looked relatively dry. I wore this product for 3 days on my undereyes and I was not happy. It offered okay coverage but was very drying on me and did not look flawless it completely settled on my lines, not like I have alot as I am only 26 but still who wants that! If I were going to recommend a good affordable drug store concealer I would go with Rimell Wake me up concealer or the Maybelline Dream Lumi concealer, they are both much better are not drying, and provide great coverage.

More Cover Girl Glosstinis!

I went to the drugstore today on my lunch break with a mission. I wanted to get the rest of the Cover Girl Glosstinis! I went and they had three shades left that I didin't own still for $1.39! Booya!

The first one was Purple Freeze which is a beautiful lilac shade. Havent tried yet but if it's anything like the other colors I bought it will be awesome quality!

I also bought Pina Coloda which is a pale yellow shade, I normally wouldnt go for this color but I love the formula so much that I thought it may be nice to change it up! The last one they had was Blue Hawaiian, I love blue nail polish and this was is a beautiful sort of muted blue shade but still beautiful. I'll show pictures below, If you guys have anything at all you would like me to review please comment below and I will!

Septembers IPSY Bag is Officially Here!

It's time for my first ever IPSY bag review!! Woohoo I was so friggin excited to receive this bag! So for those who don't know what Ipsy is it is a beauty sample subscription service which is run by several beauty gurus from YouTube, I believe the main girl is Michelle Phan (on of the most famous beauty gurus on YouTube) You will receive 5 beauty products ranging from deluxe samples to even full size products. It is $10 a month BUT since I am in Canada it ended up costing about $16.18 cents since we have to pay shipping , if you are in the U.S. it is just $10. You get sent a box for every month with different themes for each box. They also give you a style quiz which is supposed to customize the products to what your interested in. This months theme was Classic Beauty. If you would like to sign up for this service you can go to ,

http://www.ipsy.com/?refer=u-hjkohouy9dvg13os

You also get points for referring people which gets you extras in your bag, for example this month was a OPI Selena Gomez nail polish. Which that in itself is worth $10. So I will tell you what I received in my September Ipsy bag.

First off it's own cute little makeup bag every month, this months was a beautiful dark blue printed bag, which was so adorable. (pictured above) The first product I noticed was a tinted lip balm by Cailyn, which is a brand I never heard of it. It is full size and when I goggled it to find the value I saw that it was priced at $19.00, which to me is crazy to pay for this lip balm but it has already covered the cost of my whole bag and more which is great! I tried it and it is super super pigmented and soooo long lasting!!! It is this deep deep red color called Big Apple which is totally up my alley. Oh and also has a cool brush that you just twist off the top.
If you would like to purchase this product just go to: http://www.cailyncosmetics.com/product_p/tlb08.htm#.UjjyblbNiUk

I was also pretty excited when I saw that they had sent me a NYX single eyeshadow (full size) in Nutmeg. I love NYX and don't have many of their products so that was great. The color was perfect for me, I can never have enough browns and neutrals. I believe the value for this product is $5.99 at my local drugstore but if you are in the states I believe I saw them on their website for $4.50. The quality is good, good pigmentation just a great basic shadow.
If you would like to get these click here-  http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/?/ipsy

The thing I was probably the most excited about was the POP Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon in Rose Romance which is a pinky nude shade. I have been completely obsessed with lip crayons lately. They are so cute and fun and convenient and usually have great color payoff. This one was AWESOME! Loved the color and it goes on so smooth and creamy! A++++ for me! When I was looking up the price for you guys I could not find them for sale individually, It seems like they are only sold in sets but a set of six was $25 on their website which I guess would make mine worth about $4.16.
If you would like to check these out click here- http://www.popbeauty.co.uk/
The next thing was a Starlook Eye Kohl in the color Obsedian (which is black). This was a full size product, It just looks like any old black eye pencil, to my surprise the price of this pencil was $12.00 which I personally would never pay for this. I tried it on and it was really creamy went on easy and was very black which was great, BUT it smudged soooooo soooo bad on me! Literally all day at work I had to check my eyeliner and keep cleaning it up. I would not recommend this product. It may not be so bad for some people but I have really watery eyes so I have a hard time finding good smudge proof eyeliners. I usually go for liquid.
If you would like to purchase this click here: http://starlooks.com/collections/eyes/products/kohl-eye-pencil

This next and final product was the only thing that was not full sized. It was a deluxe sample of Elizabeth Motts It's so Big mascara. I believe it was a 5ml sample and the full size is 10ml so not bad at all. The price of this is $19.99 so that would make mine worth $9.99 it also included a discount code for 50% off so if you like it you can buy the full size for $9.99, which is cool. BTW all the products have a discount code if you wanted to purchase them. I friggin LOVE this mascara! The best mascara I ever tried hands down!! It gives you so much volume and length and doesn't smudge! LOVE LOVE LOVE and I may even purchase the full size! I highly recommend this mascara!
To purchase click here: http://www.elizabethmott.com/shop/ipsy/

Ok so lets total up and see what we got for our money!

Elizabeth Motts It's So Big Mascara  $9.99
Starlooks Eye Kohl $12.00
NYX Eyeshadow  $5.99
POP Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon $4.16
Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm $19.00

Total: $51.14

I definitely recommend this bag it is an awesome way to try new products every month for a low price!

Cover Girl Outlast Glosstinis

Here is another mini drug store haul, just stopped by Lawtons to get some vitimans and had to check out the clearance aisle of course. I usually go straight for the clearance nail polish and while I was sorting through the buckets I saw these adorable mini Cover Girl Outlast Stay Brilliant Glosstinis nailpolishs (BTW love the name so cute!) on for $1.39. I dont think they were too expensive regular price , either $3.99 or $4.99 depending on the location, but still a great deal for some fun new nail polish colors. I belive these were limited edition and were made in 9 shades. I picked up four, I left one behind but honestly I may go back and get it if its still there next time.

The first shade I bought is Lemon Drop, which is a bright yellow, I was very excited to try this because yellow nail polishes are so hit or miss for me. It is difficult to find ones that are opaque enough to where you dont need 3 or 4 coats to achieve the right look. As soon as I put this on I knew it was awesome! So vibrant and opaque and went on very smooth, Loved the color and the vibrancy! Defintley a hit for me!

The next shade is Orange Oasis, which reminds me of a creamsicle shade but maybe a little more bright. Really pretty and will still work for fall. This one had good color payoff but I did have a little problem with streakiness with this shade. I do really love the color though.

I also bought Appletini which is kind of a limish green shade. I dont have a nail polish this color so I was very interested in trying it. Once again like all the others has great color payoff, goes on great with one coat, I did two coats but could have gotten away with one. I do think this will work great for fall, sorta reminds me of leaves.

The last Cover Girl nail polish I picked up was Sangrla which is just a bright red color, love it its red what can I say. This was my favorite nail polish on, it is sooooo Vibrant and glossy and bright bright red! Absoultly gorgeous shade, did not have any problems with this one. I am so happy with the deal I got! I wish they would have had all nine shades because they are great quality! I am definitly going back for the Purple Freeze shade that I left behind.

The also bought a Maybelline Color Show in Silver Stunner, it is one of those "Shattered" finishes which I was very curious about. Sometimes I find alot of the textured type nail polishes don't work too well for me. For instance anything Crackel I really don't like, it does not look good on me at all! So when I put this on I did one coat and watched it  dry to see if it would do anything. Honestly I did not see a "shattered" finish at all happen, it just turned out like a matte dry wierd color on my nails. Even with second coat the effect did not change. This one was a fail for me and I would not reccomend it to anyone.

So all in and all I paid $9.84 with taxes for 5 nail polishes. Not bad at all. :)

Quick trip to Wally World (Walmart)

This is just going to be a short post. Went to Walmart last night to pick up some groceries and of course I did a quick sweep of the make-up aisle. I have been in the market for a new concealer ever since I ran out of my Maybelline  Dream Lumi concealer, which I loved FYI , so I spotted the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer for $6.97 which is not a bad deal at all. Concealer tends to be one of the products I am willing to spend more on. Cant wait to try it! Wil l post an update to this later to see what I think about this product.

Drugstore Clearance Haul!

Today I stopped by my favorite drug store to buy some body wash. Of course I can never resist checking the beauty/makeup clearance section in the back of the store. The first thing I was really excited about that I actually have to give credit to my husband for finding because I never would have seen this. The Go Goth nail polish set by O.P.I. for Halloween was on clearance from $17.99 to $2.00!  That's right I said $2!! AMAZING DEAL, especially with Halloween coming up right around the corner. This is a four pack of minis with a free cuff bracelet. The four colors include Unripened- which is a dark blue sparkly color, Nevermore - a dark deep purple color with sparkles, Sanguine- a deep deep deep dark blood red shade ( which FYI is my favorite!)  and finally Obscurity - which is a black matte shade. (which I'm petty sure the same color was in the So Skullicious Sugar Skull O.P.I. kit. I love all the colors and I think they are perfect for fall.

Next thing I was excited to try when I saw it was the Maybelline Blush in #210 Coral Burst which is limited edition. At first glance the color looked too orange and vibrant for my taste but as I have learned sometimes you have to go out of your comfort zone to find products you love , and it may look good on so I decided to try it. Now this was $9.99 at my local drugstore but on clearance for $2.00. Of course I would be willing to try it for a mere $2! I tried this on and my first impression is that it is very pigmented! I do like this on but I do have to be careful not to pick up too much product on my brush because it is soo pigmented and is such a vibrant color. Sheered out it is actually very pretty and I do see myself wearing this blush. Overall am very happy with my purchase, for $2 I  have a new blush color I did not previously own in my collection.

I also saw in the same clearance bin a Maybelline New York Eyestudio Quad in #500 Violet Volt which is limited edition. I have not tried any of these, I have a Maybelline Eyestudio trio in thier cream eyeshadow formula which I really enjoyed. I have swatched all the colors just on my hand and the pigment was decent except for the dark plum shade at the end which was ultra pigmented, One swype and there was a ton of vibrant color deposited on my hand. Am very excited to try a look with this quad tomorrow before work. I may post it, since this blog is new and I am not recieving comments yet I think I will wait to see if I get any feedback.

In the same back section of the store they had some clearance mascaras. I decided to try the Maybelline Illegal Lenght in Very Black (waterproof version) The sticker said $9.99 on sale for $2.00. ( this price seems to be a reoccuring theme here with this haul ) It is supposed to be the fiber extentions mascara which I have heard alot of but never tried. Apparently there are little mini fibers that cling to your lashes to give them length. Very interested to try this, I havent yet but may test it for a couple weeks then post a review.

The final thing I bought was not something I planned on buying but is something that I have wanted for a long time but did not want to spend the money on. It is the Loreal Paris Skin Expertise Collagen Micropulse Vibrating Eye Corrector. I have been really wanting either a roller-ball eye cream or a vibrating roller-ball  eye cream as my undereye is one of my most problematic areas, but they are rather expensive and I wanted to wait for a sale to come on. This one intrigued not only by the price but by the micro-pulse technology. The orange tag on the packaging said $26.99 on Sale for $7.75, which is an AMAZING deal for this product and by far the best sale I have seen yet on eye cream. Now when I went to the register it actually rang up as $34.99! The cashier actually had to call over the supervisor because it exceeded the price difference in a clearance item, but it was no problem at all the supervisor happily adjusted the sale price as per the sticker. This product claims that Step 1 (which is the eye cream) is Anti-Wrinkle + dark circle cream and Step 2 (which is the vibrating rollerball process) is Anti-Bag + puffiness micro pulse massage. My first impression on this product was great, I actually did notice immediat results as it seemed to smooth out the puffiness under my eyes with just one use. I think I will do a full in depth review on this product after I use it for the suggested 4 weeks. Please leave comments if you are interested in reading that.

Now for my final total for my drugstore haul!

Maybelline Blush in Coral burst  $9.99 marked down to $2.00
O.P.I. Go Goth mini set $17.99 marked down to $2.00
Maybelline Eyestudio Quad in Violet Volt $11.99 marked down to $2.00
Maybelline Illegal Lengths Masacara in Very Black $9.99 marked down to $2.00
Loreal Skin Expertise Collagen Micro Pulse $34.99 marked down to $7.75

Final total with taxes:

$15.58
Plus I used $10 of my Airmiles cash so I really only ended up paying $5.58!!AMAZING!

Total Value Pre Tax was $84.95

Savings of $69.37! And if I include my airmiles cash it would be a savings of $79.37!!! Now thats a bargain girls and anyone can do this, just keep watch at your clearance section at your local drug stores ( normally hidden way in the back!)

Cover Girl Smoochies Review

SO I have seen these on many a YouTube video and blog post. This is one of those products with mixed reviews, so i decided I had to see what these were all about for myself since makeup is such a personal thing. I only bought one and FYI I used a $2 dollar off coupon from brandsaver.com. My local grocery store had them on for $4.99 and with the $2.00 off coupon I paid 2.99 plus tax which I thought was a great deal and I was very excited to try them. On the display they were sold out of alot of the colors I felt like I would like so I only bought one. I purchased #265 #SMOOTCH. BTW I love the cute names! They are described as a  glide on sheer color and keep lips moisturized with our fabulously flirty Smoochies lip balm. Collect all 12 shades — because one smooch is never enough!

First Impressions- I love the packaging, they are so cute and I love the colors of the packaging. Mine was green and dark red, now for the color of the lip balm itself... It looks pretty in the tube BUT the first thing I noticed when I opened it was it was very very sparkly, maybe not even sparkly, like frosty like. The sparkles were huge chunks! Also the smell threw me off immeditaly...it kind of smelled like crayons or play-doh, and thats just not sexy!  Then there was the feel of it on the lips. It felt OK on the lips...nothing special but the taste is what threw me off the most. The taste was not good! Once again very crayon like and almost waxy tasting. This product was a fail for me. I will not be making good use of this #265 # SMOOTCH and honestly will probably be giving it to a friend. Now the important question... Would I purchase this again in a different shade? Yes I would because I seen some of them that were more matte and had less of a chunky sparkle in them which I feel like I may like better. I actually do think I am going to purchase one more,  with another $2.00 OFF coupon of course to review for you to see if my opinion changes. Stay tuned: xoxox
