Review on the POP Beauty I-Love Palette in Purple POP

POP BEAUTY I-LOVE PALETTE IN PURPLE POP

Today in the mail I recieved my new POP Beauty palette that I had ordered off E-Bay. I picked out the I-Love Palette in Purple POP. This kit includes 10 shadows. It is descibed as a palette of harmonized hues and accent shades that create the perfect smoldering violet eyes. Purple being one of my favorite colors to rock I was immeiatly drawn to this as well as the packaging. POP Beauty has the cutest packaging not to mention I already own a POP Beauty palette in Pretty Punk which I freaking LOVE! I literally use it on the daily. It is some of the most pigmented eyeshadow I have ever tried! Pictured below: ( SO cute right! ) Oh and I got this for just over $13 on EBAY (it was brand new and sealed)

SWATCHES: First block of four

SECOND BLOCK: THESE ARE THE TWO HIGHLIGHERS
(sorry for the bad pics these did not swatch well)

SWATCHES: LAST FOUR

But back to the new palette in question. It has a range of light to dark purple shades and also includes two larger highlight shades in the middle of the palette. On the back it has the little chart that shows you which shades to use to create different looks which is cute especially for begginers. I swatched all these colors on my hands first for this blog posts sake and I was immediatly thrown off...the shadows seemed to be very dry to the touch and didn't give off the pigment I was expected from this brand. Well I thought then maybe it will look good on the eyes. Nope, honestly this is the most dissapointed I have been in a product for a while. It has the most adorable packaging, I already own another palette from the brand that I love and use all the time! These shades just seem like a different formula than the Pretty Punk palette. I also noticed there was a ton of fall out even though I had tapped off my brush. The majority of these shades barely even showed up on my eyes.. The only color I really liked is the first highlight shade in the middle and that was nothing special. I would honestly not reccomend this at all BUT I do reccomend the Pretty Punk palette. I am kind of nervous now because I purchased another palette from this brand that has not arrived yet. I ordered one of the large palettes whixh I believe is called the Bare Textures Palette. I will insert a sneak peak below which now I am anxiously awaiting to try with hopes that it will be better than this one.

Nutra Nails Gel Perfect 5 Minute Gel-Color Manicure Review Coming Soon

October IPSY Bag

I just got my October Ipsy bag today, it was pretty late this month but so excited when I saw that pretty pink bag in my mailbox this morning! For those who don't know what Ipsy is you can read my September blog post and I explain all about it.

This months theme is Art of Beauty. The bag it came in this month was a cute white bag with red writing, it says " Love of beauty is taste. The creation of beauty is art." I liked last months bag better but I will still use this. I got five products as does everyone.

I received a Starlooks Lip Liner in the color Tipsy (full size), which is a light pink almost peachy color. I actually really like it, I usually go for reds but I wore it today and I liked it. It is pretty drying as are pretty much all lipliners but it wears fairly well. I am huge on lipliners they are my  most worn lip products. This I believe retails for $12.00, would I purchase this myself for $12... defintely not. I feel like it doesn't look or feel like a high end brand. I much prefer my drug store lip liners.

My favorite product I got was a Zoya nail polish (full size) in the color Giovanna which is a metallic emerald green color. I freaking LOVE this color. I have been really wanted a beautiful emerald green polish for fall and this one is perfect!! This is my first Zoya nail polish as it is not sold in any stores around me, well that I have seen. This one is from their new fall line Cashmeres and Satins and I was soo sooo excited when I pulled this out. Also I love the packaging, it comes in a sleek black box and even the bottle looks high end. Simple yet Sleek. I immediatly took my nail polish off today and did my nails with it. It went on smooth , no clumps so we shall see how long it wears but I honestly can`t see myself having anything negative to say about this product. These retail for $8 on their website and is you are a member of Ipsy they have a coupon code to buy 2 get 1 free.

When I pulled out this next product I was a little unsure about it. It is a Bella Terra Mineral Cosmetics pigment in the shade Emotion. I had never heard of the brand and usually am not a fan of pigments because they are so messy. When I swatched this on my hand I immediatly feel in love with the color. It is a beautiful purple that is so shimmery and metallic and super pigmented. Purple eye shadow is one of my favorite looks to rock. I think it is a great shade for anyone. I cant tell you how it wears yet but I will update in a future post. This retails for $14.99 on bellaterracosmetics.com

The only thing in this months bag that I wasn't thrilled with was the Style Sexy Hair Texturizing Spray Clay. (deluxe sample) I already knew it probably wouldn't work in my hair, I have really curly hair with lots of texture so I passed it off to my husband thinking this would probably work with him. He used it and literally told me it was  the worst hair product he had ever used! lol and he is a man who never has an opinion on any product, Please comment and let me know if you have any ways I could make this product work. The sample was 50 ml or 1.4 ounces,  Full Size is $18.95 on Ultas website.

Actually I was super surprised to see that I had gotten a costal scents brush. It was the first thing I saw because it couldn't actually fit in the bag. I believe it is the medium shadow brush. I mean what can I say...it is an eye shadow brush it works just fine, I will get tons of use from it. It isn't the greatest brush but not the worst...its just okay and I am completley fine with it.

I was definitely really happy with this month, like I said the only thing I won't use is the spray clay. Everything except the spray clay was full size! I believe this months bag was a $45 value which is a great bargain for the $15 a paid for it!

It's almost that time of the month...IPSY Bag review COMING SOON!!!

More Nailpolish????......... YUP!

Ok I am thinking maybe I should change this to a nail polish blog with all my recent nail purchases..lol..I LOVE LOVE nail polish and I can't help it if my fav drugstore has the best sales on all brands!! Guess what they had yesterday???!! OPI for a buck!! One dollar!! Hells yeahs I'm all over that deal, so here is what I got!

The one I was the most interested in trying which is what I have on my nails today is one of thier textured polishes. It is Liquid Sand in the shade Vesper. It is a gorgeous dark purple with little tiny grains of sand in it so it gives you a beautiful textured finish. I absolutly LOVE this one, the color is perfect for fall and it just gives a fun flare to your manicure.

I got two of the polishes from the Nicole by O.P.I. Modern Family collection. I got the shade Luke of the Draw which seems like it is more of a glittered top coat, it is black with big chunks of silver glitter. Very Galaxy-ish. and also the shade A Phil's Paradise which is a silver sparkle glitter. FYI I don't watch Modern Family so I have no clue what these names reference too but the colors are so adorable and they were all a buck! woohooo :)

The last one I got was Nicole by OPI in the shade Khloe had a little Lam Lam which is from the Kardashian Collection. This is the prettiet dark green emerald shade which is totally the color for fall this year. LOVE it, can't wait to wear it!

Battle of the Top Coats!! O.P.I VS Revlon!!

REVLON VS OPI !! Who will emerge the WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have recently been on the hunt for a new top coat as my last one kinda dried up. I ended up buying the Revlon Multi Care Base + Top Coat first it was on sale for $3.99 from Superstore. Not long after I came across O.P.I.'s It's Hip to be Bare kit on clearance for $5.00 which included a top coat so I decided I should do a Battle of the Top Coats!!! lol I have used both numerous times so here is what I think.

Da Da Da Dum!!!

O.P.I. Wins by a landslide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used the Revlon one when I first got it and I put it on as a base coat under my polish and also over my polish as a top coat. First of all to me it doesn't work as a base coat at all! I used it and it was almost like too shiny or something my nail polish just would not stick to it.. No matter how much I tried the more I would smooth it out the more it would just move the nail polish around.. It was so wierd I literally couldnt get one solid nice coat on. As for it's performance as a top coat, it was also not great. My nails still chipped the next day as usual ( I am really rough with my nails like doing housework etc.. really does a number on my polish.) It did make them glossy though..at least it did SOMETHING! lolz I would definitly NOT reccomend this product.

Now for the clear winner O.P.I. Top Coat. As I mentioned above I got a fabulous deal on this as it was in a set that was only $5.00 at my local Lawtons. I put one thin coat on my polish, I put it over top of O.P.I. Sanguine ( from the "Go Goth" kit which I hauled in a previous blog). It definitly made my polish last alot longer before chipping began, I wore this polish for 5 days, which BTW is a long time for me since I'm so rough with them. I was sooo happy! I also am probably going to do a review on the entire Hip to Be Bare set as it's great! Comment below if you would like to see that!

XOXOXO Melissa

Awesome Deal on O.P.I. Nail Polish!!!

I of course stopped by my favorite drug store (Lawtons) as I usually go maybe 3 times a week. I always make sure I check out their clearance section and today I spotted this. It is the O.P.I. It's Hip to Be Bare Kit. It is soo cute! It comes in a cute little see through plastic bag with button snaps that says O.P.I. across the front. The regular price on the tag was $24.99 and I got it for $5.00!! I was so excited I recently needed a new top and base coat so I bought the Revlon Multi Base and Top Coat and not quite sure how I feel about it. I may do a review to see which one is better.
It contains:

Avojuice Coconut Melon Hand and Body Lotion (1oz)
Base Coat Full Size
Expert Touch Laquer Remover (1oz)
Top Coat Full Size
Toe Seperators

I also got the O.P.I. Ridge Filler, this is the first time I've ever seen this, I did not even know ridge fillers existed for the nails but I am excited to try it. This one was $9.99 on clearance for $1.00! Love sales on anything O.P.I.

Avon Make-up Haul :)

To start off this post I do not usually buy from Avon but a co-worker is now selling it and the catalouges are all over my office. I picked them up and saw some things I was interested to try. Just so you know I did buy these in two seperate orders, one I just got yesterday and the other I got like 2 weeks ago maybe. Avon products are hit or miss for me, some are awesome and some are meh, not so great.

The first order I got was for 2 of their Brightening Concealers, I got one in Light and one in Illuminating Pearl, a Brushed Metal nail polish in Textured Topaz, a Glimmerstick Cosmic Eyeliner in shade G14 Blackened Night and also some mini rainbow tweezers.

SO start I was not impressed with the two concealers at all.. The light one was not so much brightening as it was sparkly. I just dont want my cocmealer to be sparkly... Honestly I used it 3 times and havent used it since. The Illuminating one is okay..I might get some use of it but again its a little too glittery for me.. Would I buy them again... No defintly not..

The nailpolish was supposed to be this new ``brushed metal`` finish. I used it and yes it was a pretty color that I will use but I dont really think it looks like brushed metal persay..more like just a  regular glitter nail polish. I will definitly get use out of it though.

The second order which I just got today only consisted of 3 things. I got two more eyeliners but these ones were a little different than the Glimmerstick Cosmic that I bought last time. These two are Glimmerstick Chromes. I got the shades G13 Vivid Grey and G403 Electric Pink. Lets just say I was not impressed by these at all! I loved my Glimmerstick Cosmic in Blackened Night, it is so beautiful, black with different color chunks of glitter. These ones just didint have as much vibrancy. The Vivid Grey is definitly much better than the Electric Pink. It couldnt be more far from ``electric``. It is more of a dull lilac color. Not very pigmented at all! The Vivid Grey was a little better but still the pigment was nothing like what I expected from the Cosmic one. I might get some use out of these maybe on the lower lashline but I would not reccomend or purchase them again. I am so glad they were on clearance for $1.99.

The last thing I got was an Ideal Luminous Highlighter in the shade Revitalized. I`m just going to start off by saying I freakin LOVE this! It is so beautiful and I was so impressed with the quaility and the packaging. The packaging just looks so sleek and expensive. The highlight itself is very pink. Honestly I used it as more of a blush or even just a quick sweep overtop of my cheek bones. It made me look so glowey and fresh. It is pink with a hint of sparkle and shine, absolutly gorgeous on the skin. Highly reccomended and it was $12.99 on sale for $4.99. This is by far my favorite thing from Avon thus far.

Prices:

Brightening Concealer was regular I think $9.99 on sale for $2.99 (x2)
Glimmersticks Cosmic Eyeliner was also on sale from $7.99 to $3.99 I believe (I lost the receipt for that one so I`m not 100% sure, I just know everything I bought was on clearance, as always :)
Brushed Metal Nail Polish $6.99 on sale for $3.99
Ergonomic Mini Tweezers $1.99 on for .99 cents
Glimmerstick Chrome $1.99 (x2)
Highlighter $4.99

Review on Essence Vintage District Eyeshadow and Stay With Me Lipgloss

Went to Shoppers today just to browse and I picked up a couple things from the clearance bin. I know Essence products are very inexpensive anyway but they were even cheaper there so I couldnt pass it up. I only got two things, I could have gotten alot more but everything else wasn't really my color and I'm trying to stop buying things I won't use just because they are cheap.

The first thing I got was an Essence Vintage District Eyeshadow in the color 01 I'm So Retro. This color is very interesting. It has an orangey base with spots of blue ,brown and red all through it. It looked so cool I couldn't pass it up. In actuality when I swatched it turned into this hideous muddy orange brown color. Needless to say I don't think this will be getting alot of use in my collection but as it was only .75 cents I don't really mind.

I also picked up a Essence Stay With Me Longlasting Lipgloss in #10 Pretty Witty. It says its a colorful lipgloss for glossy lips. I thought this would be a nice color for fall. It is a dark plummy color, very pretty.I will actually use this and for $1.00 I would definitly purchase more shades.

HOW TO REMOVE GLITTER NAIL POLISH

I absolutly dread when its time to remove any kind of glitter nail polish on my fingers, I dread it so much that I rarely even use it anymore even though I love the way it looks! So the other day I was wearing a really pretty heavy glitter on my nails which I was wanted to take off because I wanted to try out my new Give me Spring Break nail polish by Nicole by O.P.I. I decided to search the internet to try to come up with some kind of better way to remove it and I stumbled upon this neat trick!

Heres what you will need:

Cotton Balls
Mini Rubber Bands
Nail Polish Remover

Step 1: Soak a cotton ball in nail polish

Step 2: Apply to the nail

Step 3: Wrap a small rubber band around your nail and the cotton ball so it is directly on top of your nail

Step 4: Let sit for 2 or 3 minutes

Step 5: Remove the rubber band and cotton ball and swipe it across your nail

When I first read this I though ok well that seems logical as the longer it soaks the easier it would be to come off. When I took off the cotton ball and swiped it across my nail I found it worked really well, I still took a Q-tip and cleaned up the edges but overall it worked great! It was much faster and easier then scrubbing my nails like crazy to remove.

My new favorite nail polish!

I just got this as a gift from my husband and I absolutely LOVE it and I just wanted to share it with you guys. The color is gorgeous and so vibrant and metallic. The only downside is that it took like 3 coats to get it perfect. It is a tad bit streaky but the pay off is worth it if you have lots of time to spend doing your nails. The shade is Give me a Spring Break Nicole by O.P.I. which I guess is a part of the Nicole loves Walmart Collection.

Oh and FYI he said he got it at the dollarstore for $3!

A quick little trip to the drugstore

I stopped by the drug store this morning and got only two things but I thought I might as well share them. FYI I bought these at Lawtons Drugs in case anyone wants to check out the clearance section in their area.

First thing I got was a NYX Lip Smacking Fun Colors Lipstick in the shade 642 Miracle. It is a red shade with a slight hint of gold sparkle which I didn't notice at first but actually quite like. I tried it on and the color actually looks pretty good on me, I'm happy with it. It was on clearance for $2.00 I believe from $6.99.

I also bought a pair of Tweezerman Tweezers, I have never tried these before but everyone always says these are the best so when I saw them in the clearance bin I was excited. They were $7.99 on sale for $2.00 ( I always hit up the $2 bin..lol) The are called the Tweezerman Stainless Tweezerette, (that's a mouthful) in the mini size and are the slanted kind. They are adorable, I purchased the bright blue ones. I used them today at work and they do live up to their name. They are the best by far tweezers I have ever used! I might go back and buy the red pair just cause I lose tweezers so much.

Tip of the day

Sorry I have not been posting anything besides these tips but have been sick and busy with work. SO I promise more to come, probably on Friday.

Dip freshly painted nails in cold water to make the polish dry faster, the colder the water the faster it will dry!
